You've probably heard about the penny test used to tell when your tire tread is worn enough to need new tires. I was always told that you just put a penny into the tread with Lincoln's head pointing into the groove and if the top of his head was at or above the tread then it was time to replace the tires.

It turns out that that advice is dangerous. As you'll see in this video, once the penny test fails you are at the legal minimum for tread wear and are putting yourself in danger of losing control of your car.
